The Committee found that he had failed to exercise due diligence to ensure appropriate billing, and that he knowingly billed certain codes and surcharges inappropriately. Dr. Ernst was reprimanded, suspended, ordered to take a course in medical ethics and ordered to pay costs. Dr. Ernst appealed the finding of unprofessional conduct and the penalty, and the suspension ordered by the Council was stayed by court order pending the outcome of the appeal. The appeal was resolved when Dr. Ernst agreed to relinquish his licence and never to practise medicine anywhere in the world in the future. The resignation was effective July 15, 2021.Charges
